After winning their 18th straight game this season, the boys basketball team is poised for 20 wins. Last week, the Eagles defeated Riverdale, 65-55, to set up home games verses Tranquillity, Feb. 7, and Caruthers, Feb. 10 (Senior Night). Game times are set for 7:30 p.m. for the boys; the girls game starts at 6 p.m. while the JV boys tip-off at 4:30 p.m.
Senior Cooper Belmont, center, leads the Eagles in scoring at nearly 21 points per game.
FC has not lost since the second game of the season when Division IV Lindsay defeated the Eagles, Dec. 7, 2011. Balanced scoring and a tenacious defense has been the hallmark of success this season.
So this week marks the final home games of the West Sequoia League season as the team prepares for a playoff run. The Eagles are currently undefeated at 5-0.
The Fresno Bee continues to rank the Eagles as the No. 1 team in the Central Section Division V as of Feb. 6, 2012. According to Maxpreps.com, FC is ranked 2nd in the state for D-V basketball.
