For a change in warm-up attire for the varsity girls’ basketball game against the Parlier Panthers, both teams wore T-shirts in dedication to alumna Paige Armstrong-Maltos, ’10, Feb. 22. On the front, it reads “Fresno Christian Eagles” and “Parlier Panthers,” and on the back it says “Paige” along with her number, 41.
Armstrong-Maltos passed away in an automobile collision in Concordia, CA, on Jan. 9. She was a varsity girls’ basketball team member before she attended Concordia University, in Irvine. While attending FC, she was recognized as MVP of the West Sequoia League after the varsity girls’ basketball team won the Central Section Division V Championship at Selland Arena, March 2010.
Senior Ashlyn White loved the idea that the Parlier Panthers came up with the idea of making the T-shirts.
“All of the teams in our league have been doing stuff like this for us and it is all very thoughtful,” White said. “It’s really about having relationships with the teams.”
The Eagles will next play against Mendota at the West Sequoia League playoff for the 4th consecutive year, beginning at 7 p.m., Feb. 22. The fees are set by CIF and are: Adults, $5; students (elementary through HS, including FCS students), $4; seniors (65+), $3. Season passes are not valid at CIF Division IV playoff games.
