Fresno Christian students and parents packed 501 boxes for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox drive. Associated Student Body president Roman Endicott, ’18, challenged the student body to bring 400 gift-packed boxes to ship to children across the world. The school’s box goal was exceeded with the help of the FC community.
The boxes will be sent around the world to help children in need and teach them about God’s love.
Athletic director Jonathan Penburthy discusses why Operation Christmas Child is important.
“We turned in a shoebox to our church,” Penburthy said. “Operation Christmas Child helps remind our children that there are people in need and it is a good idea to learn how to give to others. Everybody needs know that Christmas is about giving. That’s what God did for us. He sent Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins.”
Regardless of how a box is made, one thing Samaritan’s Purse ensures is that every package contains a translated booklet explaining the Gospel. For children who have never received a gift, this simple gesture can be life-changing.
