Your 2018 WSL champions are seniors Alina Davila and Ashley Zamarripa! Tennis captains, Zamarripa and Davila, faced off against sophomores Hannah Villines and Sarah Smith in the WSL Championship, Oct 15.
After a placement tournament on Oct. 13, both FC doubles teams made it to the top resulting in a competition for first and second place in the. After a long battle against each other the seniors defeated sophomores Villines and Smith.
With best of three sets, the score being 2-1, senior captain Alina Davila shares what she was feeling on the court.
“I was very confident yet still very nervous heading into the match. I knew it was going to be close!” Davila said. “After losing the first set I was fired up and knew in my heart that if we fought, we’d win it.”
The CIF Central Section Division V team playoffs continue Oct. 23, when No. 5 seed Fresno Christian will face-off against either No. 4 Roosevelt or No. 13 Caruthers.
