Sister to Sister a mentoring program, designed to involve and teach older high school girls to pour into younger girls hearts officially begins.
This first gathering together allows sisters to be revealed to one another. Older sisters wrapped themselves in blankets with a name attached, anticipating for their little to find them, Oct. 16.
The program holds a total of 80 high school and junior high girls. Adviser Hope Villines shares her thoughts on this year’s program.
“It’s a little bit different this year,” Villines said. “There’s a lot of different girls involved. Our concept and goals are the same, but I’m really excited for this year. It’s my second year, so we have great speakers lined up, great training for the big sisters and some pretty special events for the little sisters.”
One of the favorite perks for younger girls is an opportunity to go off campus for lunch with their older sisters. Villines encourages high school girls to give back and pour into someone younger the way they were poured into at that age.
Similar to Sister to Sister is the Brother to Brother program originally started by Terry Richards now advised by PE teacher and coach Mick Fuller.
