The Great Kindness challenge began when a group of kids from Carlsbad, California were inspired to make the world a better place. In 2006, Danielle Gram and Jill McManigal co-founded Kids for Peace. Starting off small, this network has grown worldwide with over 33 thousand schools joining in. According to the Great Kindness Challenge’s website, their main goal is, “To create a culture of kindness for all.” This network looks towards helping kids all around the world. Pre K-12 students can participate throughout the week by showing random acts of kindness. Be sure to use the hashtag #KindnessMattersEverywhere if you catch someone sharing kindness.
Here’s a list of random acts of kindness that you can do any day of the week.
Hold the door open for someone
Say hi to someone in the hall
Give a compliment to someone
Sit with someone who is lonely
Buy the person behind you a drink or treat
Get someone a small gift
Do a household chore without being asked
Write a note and give it to someone
Visit your grandparents
Say thank you to your teachers
