NOTS FILMS PARENT VIEWING
On the morning of Night of the Stars, Feb. 18, parents may come and watch each class’s movie made for the night’s event in the Music Suite. The showing will start at 9 a.m. with bagels, juice and coffee provided.
Following the showing of the movies, awards are handed out for categories, such as, Best Actor, Actress, Film, etc. In addition to these categories, we also present the Parents Choice Award; the award for the best movie as decided by the parents. Parents and the FC community are invited to attend the viewing of all four movies, followed by a voting session. Seating is limited so please be prompt.
DRESS CODE
In an effort to tighten up on dress code violations, the school administration is enacting a new procedure. When a student is judged to be out of dress code by a teacher, the teacher is to send the student to the office. The teacher will send an iChat to the secretaries in the office, letting them know the student is being sent. The teacher does not need to be specific regarding the infraction – just the student’s name, and the dress code issue including “pants,” “skirt,” “top,” etc. The secretaries are to issue appropriate loaner clothes (sweats and/or shirt) and collect the student’s cell phone as collateral. This rule includes students who have been told by a teacher to pull up sagging pants more than once during the day. The principal will notify parents via email that their child was seen for a dress code infraction.
TALENT SHOW CONTESTANTS
Congratulations to Ivette Ibarra and Mark Bennett for being chosen to represent Fresno Christian in the WSL talent show! They will be competing with acts from five other high schools including Caruthers, Fowler, Firebaugh, Mendota and Tranquility. They will travel Feb. 16 to Firebaugh, Mendota and Tranquility. On Feb. 23, they will travel to Caruthers and Fowler in the morning and finish off with a final performance at Fresno Christian in the afternoon.
SCHOLASTIC JOURNALISM WEEK
The Journalism Education Association (JEA) has scheduled Feb. 19-25, 2012, as Scholastic Journalism Week. The JEA is one of two national organizations in which The Feather Online is a member. The Feather staff is celebrating the week by studying journalists through history, promoting The Feather’s purpose on campus, sharing what journalism means to the seniors on staff and thanking its readers both on campus and in the community. Last year The Feather met with Clovis West’s newspaper staff to discuss their combined work in journalism and expect to meet together again to celebrate their publications and share experiences. The Feather editors want to encourage its readers and community supporters to share the importance of the student press and its voice. They will also schedule various promotions throughout the week. Stay tuned for further information.
