LEADERSHIP TO SELL KIDS DAY PAPERS, MARCH 5
In celebration of the 26th edition of Kids Day and in cooperation with the local city paper, student leadership class will sell special edition newspapers of The Fresno Bee, March 5. Leadership students are requested to join advisor Robert Foshee at 4:30 a.m. at school to set up two locations to sell papers, raising money to benefit Children’s Hospital Central California.
The Feather staff will also join campus students on the corner of Cedar/Alluvial and on Maple/Alluvial as the two student groups join forces to sell the $1 special edition along side thousands of volunteers across the Central Valley, including Fresno, Madera, Kings, Merced and Mariposa counties.
This year organizers are promoting a “Give $5 on the 5th” campaign in order to help beat the 2008 donation record of $470,514. Last year, more than $450,00 was raised.

This marks the first year that The Feather has won the award for the digital media edition, though it received three previous Gold Medalist critiques for the print edition.
The CSPA judging committee critiqued the publication in three different areas: essentials, verbal and visual. The Feather received a total of 973 points out of 1000, awarding the staff with all three Columbian Honors, and a Gold Medalist placement, which required a minimum total of 800-1000 points.
The Feather was commended for its easy navigation, diversified coverage, multimedia elements and forum for student opinion. In one of the critique comments on coverage, the judge applauds the staff for using multiple links and pull-out quotes.
