Seniors, Delaney Meyers and Georgia Karlson, talk to each other before a game of doubles.
After an unforgettable 2024 season won with grit, the Fresno Christian girls tennis team is back and more determined than ever. After winning a CIF Division V Valley championship, they are eager to defend their title and push even further this season.
With an 18-4 record last season, Eagles return to the court with mixed talent and rising underclassmen. This year’s team is ready to build on their success and aim even higher as new players join the team, filling in the spots of the previous seniors.
Returning senior K’lanna McArn finds purpose beyond the court, valuing both mentorship and faith-filled friendships.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to be able to lead these young girls because I finally get the chance to motivate them more than ever,” McArn said. “When you have a team it’s not only about the sport, it’s about your hearts and how you work together.”

McArn says being able to speak like her teammates and cultivate godly friendships is her favorite part of being a captain.
Captains McArn and Delaney Meyers, ‘26, bring intensity, skill, and heart as leaders. Stepping up as leaders for the first time on the court. Balancing both competitiveness and encouragement, pushing teammates to give their best while playing.
Off the court, these lady Eagles emphasize team unity through faith and fellowship. Head coaches Robert Foshee and Daniel “Bulldog” Jessing organize bonding trips to strengthen relationships, giving the girls the opportunity to connect not only through tennis but as sisters in Christ.
Head coach Foshee has been coaching girls’ tennis for 16 years at Fresno Christian and as well as boys’ tennis in spring.
“The previous seniors gave a lot to our program so them leaving was a loss, but I’m excited for what this year’s seniors will accomplish,” Foshee said. “I have 3 goals this season: Work hard, have fun, and play for God.”

The 2025 season has already begun with FC’s first game on Aug. 19, dominating with a score of 9-0, and continuing with another matchup on Aug. 21, defeated by Kerman 3-6.
Junior Olivia Guerrero, now in her second year with girls’ tennis, embraces the team’s unique connection. While Guerrero misses the upperclassmen who encouraged her, she is also energized by the fun spirit the freshmen bring to the court.
“I’m motivated to play because there’s always a good result, and I love the fun dynamic our team has this year,” Guerrero said. “The new captains, K’lanna, and Delaney, they have encouraged me a lot and while it’s bittersweet knowing I’ll miss them next year, the new freshmen have brought such a fun energy to the team.”

As the season continues, Eagles feel confident and hungry. With good leadership and new talent developing on the daily, and good sportsmanship mentality they bring on the court, Eagles focus on the next game moving forward. Supported by the Fresno Christian community, the Eagles can build off last year’s legacy and make another season to remember.
