Fresno Christian Girls Tennis celebrates four seniors before their final league match against Liberty Madera, Oct 21.
Seniors honored are (from left to right), Isabella Garza, K’Lanna McArn, Delaney Meyers, and Georgia Karlson.
Teammates and families surprise them with handmade baskets and flower bouquets.
Co-Captain Delaney Meyers has been on the tennis team all four years of high school, winning a valley championship each of the previous three years. Looking back on her career, Meyers acknowledges the many life lessons that are developed through playing tennis and leading a team.
“Tennis has taught me how to lead with grace and set an example for the other girls.” Meyers said, “It has held me accountable because I know there’s others looking up to me and that my behavior sets the tone for how they view this sport I love so much.”
Georgia Karlson, is a fellow four-year varsity tennis player and Leadership Activities Director, reminisces on her favorite memories on the team.
“There are too many to count but one that stands out is my junior season’s pink out.” Karlson said, “We painted ourselves in hot pink and covered ourselves in glitter. I played the best doubles with Lyla Hinton, ‘25, and let me tell you I have never laughed more than that day. Even though we looked ridiculous and kind of embarrassing, it was beyond memorable.”
The Eagles defeated the Hawks 9-0, finishing their league season with a record of 6-1. With this win the team will be headed off to playoffs to fight for their fifth straight valley championship.
