As The Feather staff travels to New York City (NYC) for the 88th annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association Scholastic Convention at Columbia University, the editors wish to document the daily events and highlight memorable experiences, March 11-16.
The group of 23 students and six adults met at the Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) to take a red-eye flight to John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in NYC, March 11. Throughout the trip, students will tour various locations on Manhattan from Ellis Island and Soho to Columbia University.
While the majority of the staff is gone for the week, those who remain are challenged with the task of updating the newspaper and informing the student body of weekly events.
This installment includes footage of the staff on the Columbia University campus, an interview from Co-Editors-in-Chief Nick Avery and Mary Hierholzer, and a peek at where the group ate for dinner: Dallas BBQ.
Feather adviser Greg Stobbe is leading this troop on a bi-annual visit to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s annual journalism convention. This year The Feather Online staff has already earned a Silver Crown in the CSPA’s critique and staff will find out whether a fourth consecutive Crown is earned on Friday, March 16.
