The FC cross country team traveled to Woodward Park to participate in the CIF Central Section Qualifier meet, Nov. 15.
Juniors Daniel Moore and Tyler Laird ran in the Division V Varsity Boys race, a 5K [3.1 mile] loop around the park. Moore finished in 13th place with a time of 20:43. Laird crossed the finish line seventh with a time of 18:56.
Moore felt that the meet went well, but is disappointed that he did not meet his goal
“I felt like I ran pretty well,” Moore said. “I didn’t reach my goal time, though. It was probably because there wasn’t a particularly large amount of people, and when there is a large pack there are more people to compete with, so I run faster.”
Coach Ross Laird was pleased with the effort and results, though he had hoped that all of the team would qualify.
“They {Tyler and Daniel} did great,” Ross said. “I was really pleased with the effort they put out. The team made great progress, and it was a good finish for the season, though I had hoped Daniel would qualify [for the State Meet].”
Update 12/5 Following the completion of the cross country season, Moore was awarded Team Captain, and Laird was selected for Most Valuable Player.
