With the playoff semifinals set for Nov. 10 against Kings Christian, most of the talk has been on the last league match against the Parlier Panthers.
While the Eagles won the third game easily, 25-8, it was the final point that caused all the commotion. The Panthers’ final rally fell short when senior Heather Litchi, center, dove for the game winning dig.
“Heather went all out for the dive and didn’t care if her face hit the ground,” senior Courtney Franz said. “The final point of the game was the best way to end the game her senior year. She received our team’s Ninja Award, which it’s like an MVP award.”
Litchi not only impressed her teammates but also coach David Tatum.
“Heather made a superwomen dive,” Tatum said. “She came from the back row position towards the net to save a ball that was about to hit the floor. She put an exclamation point on our win and proves that were a team that hustles and leaves everything on the court.”
Not only is the varsity volleyball team league champions, but they also have an opportunity to go to state playoffs.
“The girls have an opportunity to do what no other FC volleyball team has done before,” Tatum siad. “We have the a chance not only to make it to valley but to win, and to even play at the state level. If we win the match against Kings Christian on Nov. 10, those things become reality.”
