When it come to service opportunities and chances to participate in school activities, FC is not one to lack. Especially in the month of October, students are given multiple options for involvement. Not only is Socktober this month, but so is the coveted homecoming.
Along with these events, students are offered plenty more to participate in. Student leadership has organized See You At The Pole, the beach trip, Sadies, rallies, and many more throughout the year. Occasions such as these are not only times to make memories, but they can also be used to learn about oneself or make a difference in the community.
While student involvement usually spikes during homecoming, there are always those who have predetermined apathetic attitude. This could be caused by hearsay, a previously bad experience, or just a general negative stance when it comes to school functions. This outlook can influence how others form their opinions, however, positivity can have the same effect.
Some people are blind to the gifts they have been given and how fortunate they truly are. School does not keep you in a metal cage such as a prison does. High school is the time to express yourself and explore different aspects of education such as art, music, service, athletics and much more.
There are those who go out of their way to show their school spirit whether it is cheering at the top of their lungs at football games or waking up early to pray with their fellow classmates. People like this are willing to do what may be considered ridiculous or lame so that someone else might feel comfortable doing the same.

Generally, these people will look back on their high school career as a time when memories were made. They will leave a legacy at their schools and are the ones who have a genuine love for their campus community. However, those who establish a negative outlook will look back on high school as a drag. Even today one can hear students complaining in the hallways, ‘this school is like a prison’ or ‘I would rather be anywhere but here.’

Homecoming week is when the level of school spirit and student engagement is at its highest point. Between dress up days, rallies, pageants and floats, it is almost impossible to not take action. However, there are those that find a way to exclude themselves from the festivities. The Feather editors encourage everyone to participate and make memories that will last a lifetime.
