Clinton runs campaign with experience, achievements

As the nation gears up for the upcoming presidential election, nearly all qualified voters are abuzz with talk of presidential candidates. Without a doubt, there are a few select nominees that have caught the eye of the press and stand out amongst their competitors.

One of these undeniable frontrunners is Hilary Rodham Clinton. The female powerhouse has not only claimed a prime spot within the democratic party, but has done it in style.

Naturally, much of the excitement surrounding her position is stirred by the fact that she is a female candidate. While she is not the first woman to run for president, she is perhaps the most qualified and most successful, and has ample opportunity to win. Arguably, she has garnered more favor from America than most of her male competitors.

Now, it is easy to write Clinton’s prosperity off, and claim that she has only won over fans due to her shock-value. Yet, the logic behind casting a vote for Clinton goes beyond the realm of gender.

For eight years, Clinton worked as the Senator of New York. Later, she became secretary of state under president Barack Obama. Yet, Clinton was not satisfied with simply wearing a title. Through her years, she has been a pioneer to promote change in her nation. — Chloe Mueller, Editor-in-chief

If there is any nominee that has proven themselves competent when handling politics, it is Clinton. While many recognize her from her 8 years as first lady, her civic background goes much deeper than serving as a wife.

During the second term of her husband’s presidency, Hilary worked endlessly alongside Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch to draft the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), which provided health coverage to children whose families did not fit the criteria to earn medicaid, yet could not afford coverage.

To highlight each of Clinton’s achievements would take up pages. Many chock up her success to being the first lady, which is simply an injustice.

During her time as senator, she served on the Senate Armed Services Committee and made veterans a priority. She also introduced the Heroes at Home Act to provide care for citizens with Traumatic Brain Injury.

As the campaigns continue, Clinton remains one of the frontrunners of the Democratic race. Considering her fame and competence, this comes as no surprise. As she gains momentum, there will always be those who attribute her advance to being a woman or the first lady; but truly, she has earned progress through intensive, hard work.
