Parents, students, faculty and staff gathered in the FCS Gym on March 31 to celebrate and honor Athletic Director Cynthia Ward for her years of faithful service to Fresno Christian. She will be moving to Pasadena to join her husband, John.
The FC administration was also on hand to thank Ward for her two-and-a-half years as athletic director. “She will be missed greatly,” Superintendent Debbie Siebert said. “She was so good at her job. I knew I could count on her to fulfill all of the responsibilities of this important department. I never had to give it a second thought.”
According to the administration, Ward stabilized the athletic budget, strengthening the program.
“We will all miss her,” Principal Todd Bennett said. “She was so good at what she did. She was able to keep the athletic department in the black. She took on the task of fundraising in addition to managing the program.”
Ward also introduced the new athletic director, Dan Stockton, to the parents and students. Ward explained how she was glad she is able to help Stockton transition into his new position, and he shared the same view.
“I am looking forward to training with her for the next couple months,” Stockton said. ?She will be a hard person to follow, but I am excited for this next year.”
Stockton was previously an athletic director at San Joaquin Memorial and a football coach at California State University, Fresno.
