WEEKLY CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR JAN. 18 – JAN. 22

The Feather brings its readers weekly FC campus announcements published the first day of each week. This week coverage is from Jan. 18 – Jan. 22, 2015.

As the sports schedule gets underway, consider supporting JH and HS athletes at our home games. The week’s athletic events are listed in the weekly announcements below.

Sports Events the Week of 1/18 – 1/22

Tuesday

HS boys basketball vs Parlier. JV at 4:30 p.m., varsity at 7:30 p.m.

HS varsity girls basketball vs Parlier at 6 p.m.

HS varsity girls soccer vs Parlier at 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday

HS varsity boys soccer vs Parlier at 3:30 p.m.

Thursday

HS varsity boys soccer at Caruthers, 5 p.m.

HS varsity girls soccer at Caruthers, 7 p.m.

Friday

HS boys basketball at Caruthers. JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 8 p.m.

HS varsity girls basketball at Caruthers, 6 p.m.

HS rally

HS leadership will be putting on a rally, Jan. 29. This rally will be acknowledging winter sport athletes. The theme is the different elements and each class will dress according to the element they received. Seniors: fire (red or orange) Juniors: wind (white or grey) Sophomores: water (blue) Freshman: earth (brown or green).

T.E.A. Talks

A new group called TEA Talks has formed on campus and is lead by juniors Hannah Nale and Jennifer King. It is open to all HS girls and is meant to build friendships in Christ while encouraging others and learning about the Word. If you have any questions or want to join the group, contact Nale or King for more information.

Juniors taking the SAT

Juniors who are planning to take the SAT March 5 must register online at www.collegeboard.org/register by the Feb 5 deadline. If you are interested in SAT/ACT prep courses, contact Michelle Warkentin.

Drama spring musical 

HS and JH drama will be performing their spring musical Hello Dolly! this April. Auditions will be held Jan. 25-26 in the SMC. Actors are required to either memorize a monologue or sing eight measures of a school appropriate song. Any questions can directed to Kyle Dodson or Susan Ainley.

Spring Formal

Fresno Christian’s Spring Formal, formally known as NOTS, will be held a Wolf Lakes, April 2, 2016. The theme this year will be set in the Roaring 20’s and tickets will be available starting Feb. 29, price TBA. More information will be available soon.

Seniors

Seniors who have applied to a local SCCCD community college must complete their online orientation as soon as possible. If you have any questions please contact Michelle Warkentin.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) filing period is open from Jan. 1 – Mar. 2. This is an application for free financial assistance for college and also the application for The Middle-Class Scholarship. For more information about how to apply contact Michelle Warkentin or visit https://fafsa.ed.gov/

Local Cash for College Workshops are also being held now where you can receive help completing the application http://www.csac.ca.gov/ccfc.asp

JH and HS winter pictures

If you took winter sports pictures Dec. 10, they are available in the athletic office in room 505.

ESL help for International Students

Tamara Hill will be available in the library on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m. for ESL support for our international students.

ON Campus Lunch Menu

JH/HS Leadership will offer lunch throughout the year on Thursday and Friday.
