Shouts and screams echo off the gym floor as students yell and cheer for their classmates. It is the end of the school year, one of the last times all the students will be together, and student leadership is taking advantage of the moment.
The leadership team will host Spirit Week and a spring rally for the student body, held during the week of May 2-6.
?The purpose for Spirit Week is for the students to bond together one last time before the end of the school year,? Spencer Koleen, ?06, said. ?We will also have a spring rally on May 3.?
Student leadership plans to introduce the spring sports teams and unite the students one last time during the rally.
?We?ve been preparing Spirit Week for about a week now,? Koleen said. ?But we still haven?t finished planning everything yet.?
Besides the rally, student leadership plans to host a faculty verses varsity basketball game, field day events and a student leadership sponsored lunches on various days throughout Spirit Week. May 2 will be Chili Boat Day, May 3 is a Mexican Fiesta and May 6 is scheduled to be a Hawaiian barbeque.
?This will probably be one of the last things student leadership will be doing for the school year,? David Fujihara, ?08, said. ?After this, the last big thing leadership plans to do is take the student body to see the new Star Wars movie.?
On May 20, the leadership team plans to take the school to see ?Star Wars Episode 3, The Revenge of the Sith?.
