In honor of Scholastic Journalism week here is a throwback to the start of modernization.
Johannes Gutenberg was a german blacksmith, goldsmith, printer and publisher who introduced printing to Europe. The printing press was invented between 1440 and 1450. His ideas rooted from wanting to create a mechanical moveable type of machine. This introduced the spread of mass communication, which helped Europe start the printing revolution and later spread throughout the United States.
In the beginning the uses of the printing press was for the Catholic church, to create copies of the Bible. Gutenberg’s printing press spread literature to the masses in an efficient and durable way.
