WEEKLY CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR March 14 – March 18

The Feather brings its readers weekly FC campus announcements published the first day of each week. This week coverage is from March 14 – March 18, 2016.

Campus administration is looking for an elementary girls volleyball coach. If interested, contact Jon Penberthy or at the school, 559-299-1695, ext 108.

As the sports schedule gets underway, consider supporting JH and HS athletes at our home games. The week’s athletic events are listed in the weekly announcements below.

Sports Events the Week of 3/14 – 3/18

Monday

HS varsity girls softball at Mendota HS 4 p.m., dismissal at 1:45 p.m.

Tuesday

HS varsity boys golf vs CVC at Visalia CC, 2 p.m.

HS varsity boys baseball at Yosemite HS 4 p.m., dismissal at 1:45 p.m.

HS varsity boys tennis vs Riverdale HS 4 p.m. on FC courts, dismissal 2:45 p.m.

Thursday

HS varsity boys tennis vs Firebaugh 4 p.m. on FC courts.

HS boys varsity baseball at Farmersville HS 4 p.m., dismissal at 1:30 p.m. (rainout makeup game)

Friday

HS varsity track at Gateway to Track Invitational at Buchanan HS, 2 p.m., dismissal at lunch.

Saturday

HS varsity baseball vs Coast Union HS, double header on FC varsity diamond, first game at 11 a.m.

Sister to Sister

Sister to Sister will have an off campus lunch, March 15.

T.E.A. Talks

A new group called TEA Talks has formed on campus and is lead by juniors Hannah Nale and Jennifer King. It is open to all HS girls and is meant to build friendships in Christ while encouraging others and learning about the Word.

Spring Formal

Fresno Christian’s Spring Formal, formally known as NOTS, will be held a Wolf Lakes, April 2, 2016. The theme this year will be set in the Roaring 20’s and tickets will be available starting Feb. 29-March 11 $65. After March 11 prices will be $70. More information will be available soon.

ASVAB

The ASVAB Career Exploration test will take place on Thursday March 31 from 8:30am-12pm in the JJ Room. If you are a 10th, 11th, or 12th grader contact Michelle Warkentin for more details.

Feather Travels to NYC for CSPA Conference

The Feather Online and its photographers will travel with advisers Greg Stobbe and Kori Friesen to New York City for the 92nd annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association journalism convention at Columbia University, March 12 – 19. Sixteen Feather staffers and photographers will tour Manhattan and compete for a Gold Crown in one of the oldest and prestigious high school journalism competitions.

Writing Club

The club provides a space at school for students to explore interests in creative writing. For more information, contact the club supervisor Kyle Dodson.

Break the Barriers

FC is looking for students to volunteer for Break the Barriers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteer work will count for hours toward CSF.

College Trip

The annual college trip has been scheduled for April 4-5. The trip will include visits to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Westmont and UC Santa Barbara. If interested, sign up with Kerry Roberts in building 5 with a $100 check or cash.

Juniors

The next ACT test is on April 9, the registration deadline is March 4. You can still register  for the test’s late registration with a fee at www.actstudent.org.

Seniors

Seniors who have applied to a local SCCCD community college must complete their online orientation as soon as possible. If you have any questions please contact Michelle Warkentin.

Local Cash for College Workshops are also being held now where you can receive help completing the application http://www.csac.ca.gov/ccfc.asp.

ESL help for International Students

Tamara Hill will be available in the library on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m. for ESL support for our international students. Any questions can be directed to Hill.

ON Campus Lunch Menu

JH/HS Leadership will offer lunch throughout the year on Thursday and Friday.
