The Feather brings its readers weekly FC campus announcements published the first day of each week. This week coverage is from March 28 – April 1, 2016.
Campus administration is looking for an elementary girls volleyball coach. If interested, contact Jon Penberthy or at the school, 559-299-1695, ext 108.
As the sports schedule gets underway, consider supporting JH and HS athletes at our home games. The week’s athletic events are listed in the weekly announcements below.
Sports Events the Week of 3/28 – 4/1
Tuesday
HS varsity boys golf vs Yosemite HS at Riverside GC, 3 p.m.
HS varsity boys baseball at Mendota HS, 4 p.m. Dismissal at lunch.
HS varsity boys tennis vs Coalinga HS, 4 p.m. Dismissal at 2:45 p.m.
HS varsity girls softball at Tranquility, 4 p.m. Dismissal TBA
Wednesday
HS varsity track at Fowler HS 4 p.m. Dismissal at 2:10 p.m.
Thursday
HS varsity boys tennis vs Caruthers HS, 4 p.m. No early dismissal
HS varsity boys baseball vs Parlier HS, 4 p.m. No early dismissal
Friday
HS varsity track in West Coast Relays, 2 p.m. Select athletes only.
T.E.A. Talks
A new group called TEA Talks has formed on campus and is lead by juniors Hannah Nale and Jennifer King. It is open to all HS girls and is meant to build friendships in Christ while encouraging others and learning about the Word.

Academy of Art University
A college representitive from the Academy of Art University will be in room 625 6th and 7th period, Tues. March 29. Juniors and Seniors interested should attend to learn more about this college. Teacher permission is required to attend.
Spring Formal
Fresno Christian’s Spring Formal, formally known as NOTS, will be held a Wolf Lakes, April 2, 2016. The theme this year will be set in the Roaring 20’s and tickets will be available starting Feb. 29-March 11 $65. After March 11 prices will be $70. More information will be available soon.
ASVAB
The ASVAB Career Exploration test will take place on Thursday March 31 from 8:30am-12pm in the JJ Room. If you are a 10th, 11th, or 12th grader contact Michelle Warkentin for more details.
Econ Fair
Civics and Economics students will be hosting an Econ Fair at lunch, Thurs. March 31. Student made products will be for sale at the fair as well as food also made by the students.
Feather Travels to NYC for CSPA Conference
The Feather Online returned from New York City after competing in the 92nd annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association journalism convention at Columbia University. Six high school newspapers in the country were awarded a CSPA Digital Newspaper Gold Crown. The Feather Online was one of three winners in California of the award.
Writing Club
The club provides a space at school for students to explore interests in creative writing. For more information, contact the club supervisor Kyle Dodson.
Break the Barriers
FC is looking for students to volunteer for Break the Barriers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteer work will count for hours toward CSF.
College Trip
The annual college trip has been scheduled for April 4-5. The trip will include visits to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Westmont and UC Santa Barbara.
Juniors
The next ACT test is on April 9, the registration deadline is March 4. You can still register for the test’s late registration with a fee at www.actstudent.org.
Seniors
Seniors who have applied to a local SCCCD community college must complete their online orientation as soon as possible. If you have any questions please contact Michelle Warkentin.
Local Cash for College Workshops are also being held now where you can receive help completing the application http://www.csac.ca.gov/ccfc.asp.
ESL help for International Students
Tamara Hill will be available in the library on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m. for ESL support for our international students. Any questions can be directed to Hill.
ON Campus Lunch Menu
JH/HS Leadership will offer lunch throughout the year on Thursday and Friday.
