In honor of the Feather’s nomination for the NSPA Pacemaker, students arrived in Hollywood to participate in the JEA/NSPA Journalism Convention. As a part of the first day, the staffers toured the city through sight seeing, exploring famous landmarks, and experiencing night life.
To start the day off, sight seeing began with a drive through Griffith Park and up to the Observatory, which provided a view of the iconic Hollywood sign. A tour down Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills offered a view into top name brand stores, giving insight into the glamorous side of the city.
With a behind the scenes tour of the ABC Studio 7, students had the opportunity to interacted with industry professionals and learn about the logistical structure of a news broadcasting station. Studio guide, Mike Merle, talked about the importance of networking and building relationships with other networks.
