Junior Stefi Peck enters her art into the Congrestional Art Competition 2012 and is currently displaying it in the art classroom before, art teacher Sharon Scharf (not pictured) takes it to the office of Jeff Denham.
Denham is a congressman and Peck is in his ruling district, therefore he asked her to submit her art, in his name for the show. The winner of this contest will be able to win a trip to Washington D.C. and their art will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel. This tunnel is the traffic underneith capital hill where buisness men and women travel between the House and the Capitol building.
Peck’s art is of a woman blowing on a nearly spent flower whose seeds spread to the other two panels.
Peck takes art independently this year and Scharf allows her to do whatever types of art that she wants. Mostly, she draws with pen, ink and pencil, and the piece submitted is pen in the left panel, and pencil the the center and right panels.
According to Scharf she paints what she feels. The last winner from FC was Ashley Erickson, ’13, back in 2010 and she had the privlidge of displaying her colored pencil art piece .
