Hume Lake Christian Camps stands as a safe place of retreat for many in the community; however not too long ago its existence was jeopardized, April 27.
After a lightning strike caused a wildfire in the Sequoia and Sierra National Forest in late July. It was soon named the Rough fire and burned 151,623 acres of land. Throughout late August and into September, the Rough fire was in range to burn down Hume Lake Christian Camps.
It was announced on Nov. 5 that it was fully contained and that the threat of the fire is gone. However, there are still hazards in the burned area that will remained closed this spring.
Miraculously, the grounds of Hume Lake are untouched by the flames of the fire. After months of hardships and uncertain times, fresh, fallen snow has brought a new season to the people living at Hume Lake. Now new growth is flourishing and the snow melt is refilling the lake.
