Come out and watch your Fresno Christian drama department perform in this year’s musical, Hello Dolly. The performance will be this Tuesday, May 17. Tickets will be on sale the night of the performance, tickets for adults are $7 and $5 for students.
Despite rehersals lasting all semester long it takes about two months to be completely prepared for a play or musical, from the auditions all the way to the final performance.
Drama teacher Kyle Dodson explained what he hopes will come from having the musical and what he is looking forward to.
“I hope that theatre and theatre culture can begin to have an impact on the community here at Fresno Christian. Mrs. Ainley started us strong with introducing musicals each year, and I hope to not only continue that tradition, but move forward to include other opportunities to perform. I am already looking forward to next year’s plans I have cooking up!”
Dodson believes people should come to see the musical because of the message about the American landscape of musical theatre. He also has faith in his actors to perform at a high level.
“People should watch Hello Dolly because of what it means to the American landscape of musical theatre,” Dodson said. “It’s often viewed as the end of an American Musical Renaissance that Rodgers and Hammerstein introduced in the 1940’s. Nicole Hudecek does a stellar job as the title character, but don’t discount the ensemble members as there are some choice opportunities from the likes of Zoe House down to Mark Pimentel.”
Caleb Calderon, ’16, is excited for the performance. He believes that the energy on stage will translate to excitement in audience, making it a fun time for everyone.
“I am looking forward to the performance,” said Calderon. “I think people who come are really going to enjoy it. There is a lot of energy in the show. If you go to see it you’re going to feel that energy and it’s so much fun. You’ll see us having fun and the audience will have fun as well.”

Come support your Fresno Christian drama team and watch their performace of Hello Dolly. The performance will be in Student Ministries Center at 7 p.m. on May 17.
