Staffers recuperate and prepare for upcoming year
Another school year here at Fresno Christian is nearly in the books. Over the last couple of weeks, students have been working hard to finish projects, submit final assignments and to study for finals.
This year contained many accomplishments as the football team won the Valley championship, The Feather was awarded a Gold Crown and a Pacemaker, the basketball team made it to Selland Arena as a No. 14 seed and Bellezza ensemble had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall.
With one week left in the school year, the hallways feel empty as the seniors have finished their finals and are officially done with high school. They graduate this Thursday before they all part ways for college. For the rest of the students, finals are the only thing that stand in the way of summer. Excited for summer, Kaylee Ferguson, ’19, is looking forward to sophomore year.
“I’m glad this year is over because I really enjoy summer and I’m excited to not have to wake up at six every day,” Ferguson said. “I enjoyed formal this year. It was my first formal and I had a really great experience. I didn’t enjoy all the finals being on two days right after each other. I’m looking forward to being a sophomore and having new classes with a few different teachers.”
Jeremiah Sieperda, ’17, is looking forward to summer, but will miss some of his classes and seeing his friends.
“I am excited to finish the school year, and move on to next year,” Sieperda said. “My English 11 final presentation is the most stressful event I have this week, because I don’t like speaking in front of people. I also think it will be my most difficult final. I am going to miss my time with my friends as well as the classes I had this year because I enjoyed my classes.”
As the final week of school is upon us, teachers finish up the last closing details of preparing for summer. Lockers are cleaned, grades submitted and textbooks turned in. Students will check out of their classes and will receive their yearbooks on May 25. Teachers will hand out awards for academic achievement and citizenship at the awards banquet on May 26. High school graduation will occur later that evening. In the Peoples Church auditorium, the seniors will be given their diploma on May 26 at 7 p.m.
Like the students, The Feather Online will also be taking a short break from the daily post of articles, podcasts, photo and video. Over the summer, will be a time of recuperation and preparation for the upcoming Feather team next year. We hope that everyone has a blessed summer and we look forward to what next year holds. We look forward to the first day of school on August 15.
