Creamistry is a popular new ice cream parlor that opened up in Clovis on the corner of Willow and Herndon in the Target parking lot. Creamistry boasts fresh made ice cream made upon order.
When you walk into the ice cream parlor, you immediately see the counter where you pick up your order. As you go to order you walk past the preparation counter where they make it. They use liquid nitrogen to prepare the fresh, customized ice cream that is made only directly after you order it. The coldness of the ice cream releases fog like particles.
I have been there twice so far in the two weeks it has been open. I purchased a nitroshake with mint ice cream and chocolate chips for my first visit. The ice cream was rich and creamy but once I got down to the bottom of the shake it was all chocolate chips, so it was obviously not mixed very well. The second time I went I got a nitroshake again, this time with vanilla ice cream and fresh banana. It was very good but I prefer Superior Dairy’s fresh banana shake.
Trevor Trevino, ’17, enjoys a couple of the flavors. Trevino likes the ice cream even though it is prepared differently. The only downside he sees is the high pricing.
“The first time I went I got cookies and cream,” Trevino said. “The second time I got chocolate with reese’s peanut butter cups. I liked both flavors. The cookies and cream ice cream did not have much flavor and wasn’t very sweet but I liked the texture of the ice cream. Overall, Creamistry ice cream is just ok. It’s nothing special. The price for the ice cream is way overpriced for the way it tastes. I would not recommend it to anyone.”

Frequent customer Matt Muniz, ’17, has been to Creamistry several times and even got the opportunity to go before the official opening. Muniz really enjoys the fruity pebbles ice cream out of all the things he has tried.

“I’ve tried the ice cream and the nitroshake,” Muniz said. “I prefer the fruity pebbles ice cream out of the other 5 flavors I’ve tried. The only bad part is the line as one time I had to wait 50 minutes. I get it for free most times because my sister works there.”
The inside of the parlor is quite noisy. They have loud music playing all the time and as the mixing machine fires up it is very loud as well. If you want a place to go and sit for hours to talk, Creamistry is not the place to do so.
Overall, Creamistry does make some pretty good ice cream. However, the high pricing makes it a place that you could not go too quite often. I would prefer to go to Cold Stone instead of Creamistry, as the prices are four dollars cheaper and you get a lot more ice cream. Creamistry is not bad and still tastes quite good, although I would not recommend due to the insanely high prices.
