The Eagles faced off against Anzar High School at home in their second game of the season. The Eagles played Anzar last year and won 58-6. The Eagles seeked to dominate this game because it was dedicated to Coach Malama, who was a correctional officer that had been shot earlier in the week.
The Eagles began the game on the offensive side of the ball. After a decent kick return, FC was set in motion. Early on the Eagles mixed it up between both passing and running plays, having success on both. Slater Wade, ‘17, scored the first touchdown of the game and was followed by Tyler Villines, ‘18, throwing two touchdowns to Tyler Vanderlinden, ‘17, and Julian Castro, ‘17, for additional scores in the first quarter. Castro also ran in a touchdown to add to his receiving touchdown.
The score after the first quarter was 27-0 and the Eagles did not lay off the gas. More touchdowns came from the offense, the defense and even special teams. Senior Daniel Ayres intercepted the Hawks and ran it back for six, for a defensive touchdown. Sophomore Aaron Lacroix also scored a non-offensive touchdown, by returning a punt for a touchdown.
FC was not done yet, more touchdowns came in from Nick LeBlanc, ‘17, throwing one up to Wade, Matthew Tanaka, ‘17, went from center to running back to fight for a three yard touchdown. The Eagles went full force for the entire game in honor of their injured coach. FC would take a win against Anzar with the final score being 60-0.

Tanaka is pleased with the team’s performance and understands what it meant for Coach Malama.
“I think that the team played great Friday,” Tanaka said. “Our line did fantastic and didn’t let the quarterback get sacked and receivers didn’t drop passes. The performance means a lot that we played for malama and we absolutely killed the other team. Malama would have been proud of our performance.”
Wade is also aware of the meaningfulness of the game and credits Coach Malama to the performance.
“This means a lot to us,” Wade said. “We all had a chip on our shoulders that made us play better for Malama.”
The Eagles will play their next game against Laton High School in an eleven man game, Sept. 16, so come out and support your Eagles!
