Eight teams battle for a chance at victory in the final round of a competition that showcases skill, strategy and speed.
The boys’ basketball team held an invitational championship tournament on Dec. 28-30. The campus eagles went on to win the championship against Orosi, with a final score of FC 57 ? Orosi 53.
“I was very impressed by our team, they played well,” Mike Neal, head coach, said. “We defeated two division four teams and that’s a lot considering that we are division five.”
The tournament was an encouraging beginning to the upcoming season.
“The tournament was a good competition for all of us,” Seth Lane,’06, said. “This win helped us with our confidence, and it was a great start to the season.”
The starting point guard on campus, Ross Charest,’05, was presented the Most Valuable Player award in the tournament.
“The award was great to get and wining the tournament boosted our team’s confidence,” Charest said. ” It showed us that we can play just as well as all the other teams.”
After their success at the tournament, the team plans on starting a new tradition on campus.
“Since we had such a successful year, I’m planning on holding another tournament next year,” Neal said.
