It’s that time of year to pack your Operation Christmas Child box. These boxes are distributed all over the world to children who are underprivileged.
Operation Christmas Child is a charity through Samaritan’s Purse. The international agency collects shoes boxes stuffed with toys, school supplies, non-liquid hygiene items and personal notes.
Students are encouraged to bring plastic boxes instead of cardboard because they can be more useful. All boxes can be turned into Room 608, the high school office in Building 6 or the elementary office in Building 5. The student leadership class is collecting shoe boxes until Nov. 10. Last year’s record of boxes brought at FC was 275 and this year’s goal is 300.
Student Leadership challenges each class to bring in 30 boxes. The class that achieves the goal will be rewarded with donuts in advisory. Overall, Samaritan’s Purse hopes to deliver over 12 million Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes this year. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 135 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 150 countries and territories.
