Jeremy Brown presents campus improvements

FC Superintendent Jeremy Brown will hold this fall’s FCS Town Hall meeting on Nov. 14, covering topics such as building projects and progress, school academics and other forward planning to address the needs of increasing enrollment. The meeting will be held in the SMC Main from 6:30-8 p.m.

The Town Hall gives parents and the school the opportunity to communicate with one another. Superintendent Brown hopes that the meeting will be an effective way to receive feedback from the community and communicate with parents.

“The way the agenda is set up where I will always have one kind of featured item,” Brown said. “We’ll do some traditional informational pieces regarding attendance growth enrollment and maybe a new building campaign. We’ll also have time for Q & A from parents because a lot of times the parent perspective is different from the school about what is important to them and we want to make sure it’s an exchange of communication not just me giving a speech.”

Last fall, Brown focused on discussing FC’s response to Common Core. This year’s meeting will concentrate on school growth.

“The main topic this year on my point of view will be our growth going forward,” Brown said. “When I say going forward, that’s everything from building plans to what we are going to do about adjusting curriculum. Another topic I anticipate will come will be what do growth plans look like on our campus, how many people can we grow and what are some ideas for growing like that.”

At the end of each Town Hall meeting, the superintendent will open it up to a time of Q & A. He hopes the engagement will add to a warm environment.

“We’ll always have a Q & A session during the presentation,” Superintendent Brown said. “I’m very informal about the style in how I communicate which is good because parents feel that they can talk to me and ask questions. It does no good to communicate and not to see if the message has been received. It really is a good time because it’s not cold-it’s very warm. Even when we disagree on things it’s a very warm environment.”

Brown encourages all parents to attend the meeting and be engaged in school planning conversation that will directly affect their kids. Please plan to attend the Town Hall, Nov. 14, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the SMC.
