In honor of Scholastic Journalism Week, we asked strangers at River Park Plaza how many of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment they could name, Feb. 18.
These rights were granted to us on Dec. 15, 1791. After jogging their memory, most were able to recall two or three of the freedoms.
In an effort to stir the FC campus students’ memory of what they learned about the First Amendment in history and civics classes, The Feather participates in Scholastic Journalism Week, Feb. 20-25, 2017.
During the week, reporters, videographers, photographers and editors walk the hallways, eat lunch with the student body and share in assemblies the importance of the news and and the freedoms they share because of those who have fought to ensure those rights.
With this video, The Feather shows how many a few local young adults and teens know about the First Amendment and their five freedoms. While their names are not added as per their requests, but they share what they know about the five freedoms.
How many do you know?
