After a long day of travel Feather staff arrives in New York City and begins their day exploring the city of Brooklyn, March 12. With temperatures well below freezing Feather staff and chaperones walked across the Brooklyn Bridge stopping to eat at the famous Grimaldi’s Pizzeria.

The day also included learning the metro system from Greg Stobbe’s subway lessons, maneuvering through Big Apple crowds and resting at the hotel right in the middle of Times Square. Frequently throughout the day the team could be heard doing their ‘sound off ‘, yelling out their assigned number to make sure no one would be left behind. Even city workers joined in. 

The staff finished the day iceskating at Wollman’s Rink in Central Park South. Follow us this week as we journey through more New York adventures and attend the Columbia Scholastic Press Association 2017 Spring Journalism conference.
