On day 2 of our NYC trip, The Feather staff visited National September 11 Memorial and Museum, One World Observatory, along with Wall Street and Federal Hall, March 13.
The day ended with watching the Madison Square Garden Rangers Game. The New York Rangers were defeated, 3-2, against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Alarms go off as dreary eyed Feather students roll out of bed. An early day with multiple plans and stops awaited students. The first stop of the day was at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
The 11,000 square foot building is full of multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of authentic artifacts. The museum is broken into two exhibitions, historical and memorial. In the historical section, viewers can find the exhibition broken into three parts, events, before and after.
The One World Trade Center, located in lower Manhattan, is the main building of the World Trade Center and sits next to the Twin Tower 9/11 memorials. The 1776 foot tall building is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and the sixth-tallest in the world.
After an hour marveling at the views from the tallest observation deck in America, the group rode the elevator back down to continue on to the next attraction, Wall Street.
Wall Street serves as one of the financial leaders of the world. It is home to the New York Stock Exchange and has even be used for the filming of, “Dark Knight Rises.”
With two minutes to go, the Rangers pulled their goalie in exchange for an extra man on ice. Now, the 6-on-5 Rangers controlled the game. However, time ticked down with the Rangers failing to capitalize on their advantage and the Lightning took the victory away from the home team.
