Despite the late night most Feather staffers spent working, video journalists woke earlier than the rest of the group to prepare a presentation. For the second consecutive day, Feather staffers took the subway trip to Columbia University for the CSPA Spring Convention, March 16.
Once again, The Feather taught sessions open for other student journalists to attend.
In their first session, ‘Video in under an hour’, Feather videographers, seniors Jarrod Markarian, Clark Zhu and juniors Daniel Chandler and Jaden Ventura led the session along with adviser Kori Friesen to offer the presenters a chance to show their audience the process of creating a video.
Feather photo adviser Kori Friesen jointed Markarian and presented ‘Quality and Quantity’ themes for the second session. The Feather video journalists also gave tips and tricks of how to produce both quality and quantity videos each week.
After the lunch break, students visited Little Italy and SoHo (South of Houston Street) in the Manhattan Borough. With shops, food, and plenty to see, all were able to keep busy for a few hours.
Before leaving for the hotel, staffers were treated to one more event. Students and chaperones headed to see the show ‘Stomp’. Stomp is a musical production that combines dancing, comedy and music made by using only brooms, lighters, trash cans and other random items.
On day six of the Feather’s New York trip, the CSPA Gold and Silver Crowns will be awarded to Crown finalists and plans on attending the opening of the new Disney film, Beauty and the Beast.
