Sophomores in English 10 choose images from magazines to add to their silhouette for a portrait poem collage project, April 4.
English teacher, Andrea Donaghe assigns this activity to encourage her sophomore class to be creative and create a personalized project. Students cut out images from magazines and glue them to a portrait silhouette. Images are chosen because they represent the student.
Doing a unit in poetry earlier in the year, Andrea Donaghe encourages students to widen their prior knowledge with this assignment. On the back of students’ personalized silhouettes there will be a biography poem. Donaghe provided several different examples of biography poem layouts for her classes allowing students to choose their favorite.
