While the school year is over, the FC varsity baseball will continue playing. The No. 7 ranked Eagles surprised No. 3 seed Parlier High in their second playoff game, winning, 6-3, May 24.
The Eagles began their season with a rough start with many members were discouraged for future games.
Connor Martin, ‘20, is going on his 11th year of playing baseball. This is his second year on the varsity team at Fresno Christian.
“I really didn’t think we we’re going to make it far,” Martin said. “But after winning the first playoff game, my faith in this team and our abilities has gotten stronger.”
Adam Wood is going on his third year as the assistant coach.
“This season began with a lot of frustration on both the coaches and the players side,” Wood said. “But recently, the boys have been working hard outside of practice and they’ve really come together as a team. It’s been awesome watching the journey of the players I began coaching as freshmen.”
After going into their second playoff game as the underdogs, the Eagles took the win and will be moving on to the CIF Central Section Division VI Valley Championship against Sierra High at Rawhide Stadium in Visalia, May 26. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. Tix pricing is not yet available.
