Students engage in hands-on activities with support staff
CLUB176 offers a shift in programming and participants from the KIDS, INC. after school program in the past. The new campus after school curriculum is hands-on and activity-based and now only for campus families and their students.
Camp director Terencie Jacquez leads the CLUB176 team, consisting of six core staff members. Born and raised in Texas, Jacquez graduated from University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in education and law enforcement in 1995. She moved to Fresno and began working as an aide at Eaton Elementary in 1996 and later kindergarten teacher and assistant director at Family Care Ministries for their after school program from 1996-2010.
“I am passionate about what I do,” Jacquez said. “I love helping kids problem solve. I want to engage students in activities that will spark a lifelong interest in learning. I continue to be influenced by my youth pastor Mike Harrison as he mentored me and gave me a starting point. His philosophy was to give people a chance and I love to share this hands on experience with those in my care.”
Jacquez’s goal is to earn a Ph.D. in speech therapy and is currently enrolled at Fresno Pacific University to further her education. Her inspiration continues to come from her former youth pastor, Mike Harrison and his parents, Doug and Toby, who are her spiritual giants and “extended family” and loves mentoring kids outside of the classroom.
“Mike Harrison, my former youth pastor, provided my first hands-on opportunity to learn something new,” Jacquez continued. “He handed me a camera and I learned to used it by trial and error. He taught me a lot about media production. I asked him once why he did that and he said ‘sometimes people just need a chance’ Now as an educator, I want to do the same for others, give them a chance, provide an opportunity like it was given to me.”
Two years ago, FCS began the process of developing a new after-school program, and CLUB176 was launched as a program just for FCS families in August 2017. Jacquez has been working on campus since 2010, originally teaching TK and KIDS, INC.
“I love to challenge the kids to think outside the box,” Jacquez continued. “The activities offered, provide a hands-on experience such as making smelly playdough or toe painting. If kids are ticklish with messy activities, that will be a challenge for participation in the program.”
CLUB176 is a Fresno Christian Schools before and after school program exclusively for FCS families and staff during the school year. The program provides a safe environment in which students spend about an hour or so engaged in hands-on activities which are based on a weekly theme.
“Our focus is to provide a safe environment,” Jacquez said, “where our students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on in activities that will stimulate, intrigue and allow them to try something new. At times we might even get a “little” messy or try a new dance step or two.”
Peoples Church organization, KIDS, INC., was an after-school and summer program open to both our surrounding public school students and FCS elementary students. Now, CLUB176 is exclusively for FCS students.
Jacquez works to help out families and encourages the kids to learn because they are educators, not babysitters. Along with Jacquez, Viola Howard wants to make sure parents know that this a safe and friendly environment for all of the kids. Howard works as before school and office support.
Along with Jacquez, Viola Howard works alongside the staffers as the before school and office support for CLUB176.
“We offer students a fun program with exciting weekly activities,” Howard said. “Parents can be assured their children are being well-cared for in a safe environment. I enjoy working with the children, interacting with them and I like to help them feel loved and cared for. It is important for me to give parents a place to drop off their kids, even at 6:30 a.m.”
CLUB176 gets its name from the fact that there are 176 school days in a year. There are four additional classroom staff: Becca Brake, Morgan Koop, Mary Faye Hyatt, Megan Raynes and Amanda Grimmius. Additionally, they have added Viola Howard as before school and office support staff.
“We are not a tutoring service,”Jacquez said. “We concentrate on getting the kids involved in activities each day. We are not opposed to tutoring and, maybe down the line, we can revisit that. However, towards the end of our day, we do provide a time for those students who have homework to work on it after our scheduled activity.”
CLUB176 currently has 84 students and growing ranging from TK to sixth grade. If you would like to add your student to the program, the contact number is 1 (559) 298-9256, or email [email protected].
Campus administration is also developing a plan to create after school camps for public school students, along with FCS students, during holiday breaks. While this is still in the planning stages, ideas for participants may include excursions and engaging activities. Interested parents can email [email protected] for more information.

I love Mrs. T. She makes the program work. She responds immediately to my emails. I love the flexibility of Club176. It is a life saver. My girls love the staff and the program. Even when it is not their day they want to visit the staff and hug them. They look at the craft calendar and select which days they must be there. I am so grateful we have this program at FCS. I know the staff loves my girls and they love the staff and that warms my heart. Thank you!

This program not only educate these students hands on activities but in a big group students also learn how to associate with others, and learn from each other talents; especially with the shy kids, this is a great way for self-over come whatever it is they need. My niece talks about it all the time… Thank you.
