Get to know the queen candidates!
Homecoming week begins with excitement from both candidates and students alike. The five senior queens, Erin Wilson, Celeste Counts, Maicy Luginbill, Jenna Bynum, and Mariana Fiske give us some insight into their lives and their favorite parts of school.
Each girl was asked questions about high school memories, advice they have been given through the years and things they do outside of school.
What is the best advice that you’ve ever been given?
Fiske: “The best advice I’ve ever been given is to just try my best and not get stressed about anything.”
Counts: “The best advice I’ve ever been given is ‘Be smart all the time’ from Jacob Provost”
Luginbill: “The best advice I was ever given “if Jesus is all you have, you have all you need.”
Bynum: “The best advice I have ever been given was ‘Don’t be dumb’ from Jacob Provost.”
Wilson: “The best advice I’ve ever been given is to give to others generously because there is always something you can do for someone.”
What was your most embarrassing moment in or outside of school?
Fiske: “My most embarrassing moment would probably be my freshman year when I kept getting lost because I thought the campus was so big the first week or so. Sometimes I would walk into the wrong building after lunch and it took me forever to figure out the bell schedule. Looking back I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to figure it out.”
Counts: “My most embarrassing moment is last summer when I was at Hume Lake and I jumped off a truck and scabbed up my knees.”
Luginbill: “My most embarrassing moment was when I farted in the middle of yoga my junior year with Lauryn(Tucker, ’18).”
Bynum: “It was when I was at Hume Lake walking with a friend and they told me to watch out for the pine cones and then right after they said that I slipped over a pine cone!”
Wilson: “My most embarrassing moment is when I was in a choir performance in front of an entire auditorium of people, and I passed out and slid down the risers on my face.”
What was your favorite memory from high school?
Fiske: “My favorite memory from high school would either have to be the choir retreat or senior retreat this year. Both were extremely fun and I feel like I got to know people better on the trips.”
Counts: “My favorite memory from high school is last year at the Heritage Festival when ensemble got the highest score out of every musical group there.”
Luginbill: “My favorite memory was definitely senior retreat at Hume Lake we got to grow so close as a class and better our relationship with Christ.”
Bynum: “My favorite high school memory was the senior retreat and Hume Lake.”
Wilson: “My favorite memory from high school is when a girl on my basketball team shot a game-winning three against Riverdale last year.”
Any hobbies that people don’t know about?
Fiske: “Outside of school, I like to read and ride quads with my cousins. I also just like to be outside.”
Counts: “A hobby that you don’t know about is messing with my sister.”
Luginbill: “My hobbies are soccer and track, I am good at makeup but I never wear any.”
Bynum: “A hobby I have is I love to scrapbook”
Wilson: “A hobby I have that people don’t know about is knitting, I’m not very good but I do it.”
Who is walking you out on the field at homecoming?
Fiske: “My dad (Ed Fikse) will be escorting me.”
Counts: “My dad Russ Counts is escorting me homecoming night.”
Luginbill: “My dad Jeremy Luginbill is walking me out on the field.”
Bynum: “My dad David Bynum is walking me out at homecoming.”
Wilson: “My mom is escorting me homecoming night.”
