Karen Walters‘ 5th period zoology class study Charlie and Larry the crustaceans, Nov. 29.
Using a metal probe, students name and label different body parts of the crab and lobster who were given the names Charlie and Larry.
Walters is teaching a unit on arthropods, bringing in live examples of different creatures for students to study.
Brittany McCann, zoology student, looks forward to Walters’ live demonstrations.
“It was fascinating seeing the interworking of a crustacean,” McCann said. “It’s cool to see them up close and have a hands on experience instead of just looking at pictures as Mrs. Walters is teaching.”
After labeling the arthropods, students were required to fill out a worksheet handed out by Walters.
