Senior Matthew Sue is organizing a new club to Fresno Christian. After meeting with Principal Amy Deffenbacher for approval, Sue is starting a campus fishing club. The club will first meet in Aubri Foster’s room during lunch, Feb. 7. After that, they will meet the first Wednesday of every month.

The fishing club will first learn all of the basics of fishing in the classroom. Once they have learned the basics, they will travel to various lakes and streams on certain weekends. Sue, the founder and president of the club, wants to share his passion with his fellow peers.

“The reason I started this club is simple,” Sue said. “I wanted to share an activity I enjoy with my peers and classmates. I started fishing when I was young and have enjoyed it ever since. The goal of this club is to teach people how to fish and have fun doing it. I also hope to link this to an outreach I do with the Boys and Girls club of Pinedale where we take kids fishing up at Shaver Lake.”

Member of the club and sister of Matthew, Marin Sue, ’20, wanted to join the club to support his brother but mainly because of her shared love of fishing.

I decided to join the fishing club because I really enjoy fishing,” Marin said. “My favorite part of fishing is the feeling of the fish on the line when I catch it and successfully bring it in. I have been fishing for basically my whole life. I hope to gain more fishing skills, in addition to finding people who share my love for fishing.”

The club is just getting started if you are interested contact Matthew Sue. The club welcomes all level of experiences.
