AP U.S. history students focus in to take the official practice exam for their AP test, Feb. 8.
The class spends a total of three and a half hours to finish the test. Teacher, Kori Friesen, feels as if running through a sample of the test will give students a clear understanding of the timing and format of the test. This will take away stress and anxiety leading up to the test day.
Last year 509,000 students worldwide took the APUSH test. Two students received a perfect score while only 10.9% received the highest score of a 5. The official test day for 2018 is May 11.
Matthew Sue, ‘18, feels like he can have more comfort with taking this test because of his practice.
I think that the practice AP test is a good exercise because it allows you to get a feel for what the test will actually feel like,” Sue said. “I have found that taking these tests help you feel more prepared for the test itself. My primary concern with this test would be the writing section, because of how unpredictable it can be.”
Students spend the remainder of the year retaining historical facts and preparing for their AP test at the end of the year.
