Feature Art No. 10 by senior Alyssa Melillo
Title: Monochromatic Self Portrait
Description: To make this portrait Melillo transferred a photo of herself onto a large piece of paper. She began by drawing a grid and completed the portrait square by square.
Based on the lighting of the picture of herself she used, Melillo identified the lightest and darkest areas on a scale of 1-5. She used a base color of purple and added black or white to darken or lighten the shade.
“The hardest part of this project was not knowing how it would turn out,” Melillo said. “I didn’t know if the colors and tones would correlate with the shading of my original picture.”
