Staffers and chaperones explore Tenement Museum, 9/11 Memorial, and their second Broadway show, Hello Dolly, on day 3 of Feather NYC trip, March 13. Early morning snow fall reminds students of last year’s nor’easter storm.
The first stop of the day takes place at the Tenement Museum. Once divided into three different tour groups, students travel through preserved tenement housing to gain a real life understanding of the conditions. They learn about the history of immigrants in New York during the late 1800’s-1900’s.
Sessions include sweat shop workers, Irish outsiders, and hard times.
Before taking a lunch break, Feather staffers visit 9/11 Memorial and Ground Zero, to recognize those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
For lunch, members indulge in a variety of cuisines at Brookfield Place. Meals range from NY pizza to Unami burgers.
After experiencing Wicked earlier in the trip, the group attends Hello Dolly, starring Bernadette Peters, as Dolly Gallagher Levi, and Victor Garber, as Horace Vandergelder.
With hot cocoa in hand, students retire to their rooms to complete articles and photos for the day. Stay tuned for more articles, photo posts and videos of #feathertakesnyc!
