It?s been 47 years since the original The Shaggy Dog, a comedy about a teenage boy transformed into a sheepdog, became instantly popular. However, the newest version of The Shaggy Dog just fails to deliver the exuberance and innocent goofiness that the original did.
The current remake of The Shaggy Dog stars Tim Allen as Dave Douglas, a deputy district attorney who plays the role of the negligent father, who rarely spends time with his family.
His daughter, Carly, played by Zena Davis is an animal rights activist who, in some questionable coincidental series of events, gets a hold of a 300-year-old dog, who was originally stolen by the villainous prescription drug company.
Dave happens to be the lawyer assigned to the case, and clashes with his daughter concerning the point of animal rights in an expected recourse of typical parent/child conflict comedy. The main plot moves on to Dave receiving a bite from the mystical pooch and contracting the dog?s DNA, eventually transforming him into a dog.
