Rob Foshees civics and economics class participates in an activity that allows students to experience how business works and how they can advertise to attract business. Students choose from a variety of possible items to sell and then they sell them. They put all of the things they learned in the previous semester into the Econ Fair, April 18.
Participating in the Econ Fair offers the students an opportunity to market and sell a product that they have created. Students create their product and advertise in the previous week to other students on their product to get them hyped for their product.
T-shirt vendor Cayla Rivas, ’18, came up with the idea to sell and-made tie-dye shirts because it was simple and economical. Students waited in line as Rivas set up shop, eager to make a purchase. This resulted in Rivas making the first sale of the day.
“I heard lots of people were doing food so I figured that food wouldn’t be as good of a market,” Rivas said. “I made profit of $505. It was definitely risky to charge $15 instead of $10, but I took the risk and it paid off.”
The following video is a glimpse into the sights and sounds of this years Econ Fair, filmed and edited by Kyle Friesen.
