Seniors participate in the first half of the annual senior portfolio interview during second period, May 3. The second half of the class of 2018 are interviewed during sixth period.
Students are required to wear a type of professional wear. Girls wear dresses, skirts or pant suits along with dress shoes. Boys wear a suite and tie with dress shoes as well.
Visiting employers ask the students a series of questions to simulate a real-life job interview. The students also show them their senior portfolios and conversate regarding their achievments.
Senior Carlee Whipple felt prepared going into the interview despite nervousness.
“I was kind of nervous going in. I did not want to mess up and make a fool of myself,” Whipple said. “I honestly went in unprepared, I winged the whole thing. However, I do feel more prepared for my future interviews, I now know how they will go somewhat. I found that the business man I was with, made it a whole lot easier and he calmed my nerves.”
The students are graded on how professional they dress, the interview and senior portfolio.
