“Fuller has trained me and helped me grow so much as an athlete, he’s invested a lot of time in me and has helped me get so much stronger than I ever thought I could,” Rivas said. “The discipline he’s taught me I’ll be able to carry on throughout my life. If it weren’t for Hope, I would have never done cheer and she’s sparked a passion in me that I never imagined I’d have. She’s mentored me through hard times and encouraged me throughout my high school years. Because of her I’ve decided to pursue cheer in college and cheer for the FPU team. My parents have also been a huge part of my high school sports. They’ve continuously supported me at games and competitions and helped teach me that hard work and dedication really pays off. They believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself.”
Villines has been a part of three varsity sports teams; varsity football, baseball and soccer. He has participated in football for four years, baseball for four years and soccer for three years. Villines also was team captain in baseball and football his junior and senior year of high school.

Male Senior Athlete of the Year award recipient Tyler Villines shares his favorite memories during his high school sports career and what it means to him to receive this award. Villines also thanks his parents for always encouraging him to do his best and give God the glory.
“My favorite memories from high school have to be out on the field,” Villines said.”It was incredible being able to do another piece of history and bring the first baseball Valley Championship to this school. I’d like to thank all my coaches obviously, but specifically my family because they are constantly supporting me, constantly pushing me. Even when in my mind I can’t comprehend myself being successful in a certain sport, they tell me your insane, go out and do it, and no matter what happens do what you got to do and give God the glory. I’m so blessed to be here and be surrounded by people I love and who love me.”
