The William Saroyan House museum opens with a celebration of the author’s life and legacy, at Fresno State, Aug. 31.
Congressman Jim Costa and Armenia Ambassador Grigor Hovhannisian were among the speakers at the Fresno State ceremony.
Today marks William Saroyan’s 110th birthday. Saroyan’s work is widely known in Fresno, where he was born and raised.
Saroyan was an Armenian-American novelist, playwright and short story writer. During his life time he was honored with several awards. Some awards include Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1940 and the Academy Award for Best Story for the film adaptation of his novel, ‘The Human Comedy’, in 1943.
