Fresno Christian’s senior homecoming court nominees choose a Disney movie to market during FC homecoming, Oct. 5. Candidates Griffin Schmidt and Kamryn Schultz both share a love for Disney.
This week’s chosen movies include, ‘Star Wars‘, ‘Lilo and Stitch‘, ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame‘, ‘Hercules‘, and ‘Tangled‘. FC leadership voted on the Disney theme called ‘Homecoming Happily Ever After‘.
The theme will be carried out as classes work on floats from various Disney movies. Floats will be showcased and open for voting at the 34th annual FC homecoming, Oct. 5.
Homecoming nominees, Schmidt and Schultz take part in ‘Homecoming Happily Ever After’ by dressing up as Flynn Rider (Eugene Fitzherbert) and Rapunzel. Schmidt expresses his excitement for the week and why they choose Tangled for their theme.
“We chose it because it’s a really cool movie” Schmidt said. “My favorite aspects from this week have by far been the Royal Battle dance, senior involvement and dress up days. I’m really excited to play Frasier Mountain Friday night, and the Homecoming festivities that follow.”
Tangled Movie Facts
Here are some fun facts about Tangled thanks to Oh My Disney.
-Tangled was Disney’s first ever full-length computer-animated- fairy-tale adventure. It was also Disney’s 50th animated feature. Rapunzel’s kingdom and the hidden valley in Tangled was inspired by the real world. The kingdom was inspired by Mont-Saint-Michel and the hidden valley was inspired by Rocamadour.
-Rapunzel’s trusty sidekick, Pascal, was almost a squirrel instead of a chameleon. Then after the artists decided on a chameleon, Pascal was originally designed to be purple and blue. He was later switched to green, because that complimented Rapunzel’s hair color the best.
-The iconic floating lanterns that are present throughout the movie almost didn’t exist. Animators originally considered using fireworks instead of floating lanterns. But after story artist, John Ripa, ran the idea of floating lanterns by Tangled’s executive produce, John Lasseter, Lasseter was all for it. It turns out he and his wife lit a lantern on their anniversary, so it had sentimental value to him.
-Flynn Rider’s face was designed after women from the studio brought in pictures of male actors and celebrities they found attractive. Rider’s design was inspired from elements of actors and celebrities brought to these meetings, referred to as the “Hot Guy Meeting.”
